My Journey

Background

I've always loved understanding how things work. I began my career as a software engineer, thinking all I had to do was deepen my understanding and get better at my craft.

This changed when I became a team lead. I quickly discovered I was just as interested, if not more so, in understanding how people and teams work.

Questions like: What makes people tick? What are the root causes of success and failure?

Those dynamics fascinated me. That curiosity led me towards leadership development and organisational transformation: helping teams achieve meaningful outcomes while consciously creating a culture they cared deeply about.

For over 30 years, I have developed these skills through working with organisations, teams and leaders navigating complexity.

These environments taught me that expertise, effort and good intentions alone are not enough.

Success or failure often depends on the quality of people's interactions and relationships, and the structures within which they work. Real progress depends on people understanding what they are working towards, whether they believe their contributions matter and how effectively they can work when the situation becomes difficult.

My work focuses on the human and organisational dynamics behind performance and change: why capable people become misaligned, why sensible strategies lose momentum, and why some organisations learn and adapt while others remain stuck.

Today, I bring together leadership development, organisational alignment, executive coaching, mindset change and cross-team facilitation to help teams and organisations achieve outcomes they value, in a way that reflects who they are.

Why I Do This Work

I know what it is like to lose clarity and direction in high-pressure, complex environments. It affects our energy, confidence and the quality of our work.

Earlier in my own working life, I reached a point where progress had stalled and my confidence in the direction I was taking had begun to weaken. Working with a coach helped me examine what mattered, challenge assumptions I had made about myself, and reconnect with the work I found meaningful. This experience did not provide a ready-made answer. It helped me see more clearly and take responsibility for what came next.

This confirmed something I had already encountered throughout my career: I do my best work when helping people and teams understand complex, difficult situations, create clarity and move forward together towards outcomes that would be difficult to achieve alone.

Who I am and what I bring

Experience and Professional Practice

My experience spans technology leadership, software and product development, organisational transformation, executive coaching, leadership development and enterprise agility.

I hold professional certifications in executive coaching, facilitation, Outward Mindset and enterprise coaching. I have also undertaken specialist training in coaching neurodivergent individuals within professional and organisational contexts.

I work across both consulting and coaching because the two disciplines strengthen each other: coaching develops awareness, judgement and personal responsibility; consulting helps us examine organisational conditions, establish alignment and translate intent into practical action.

Together, they support change at both the human and organisational level.

How I See the Work

Complexity cannot be reduced to a prescribed answer or a perfectly ordered plan.

Leaders often work in situations where there is no single cause, information is incomplete and no solution is guaranteed. A decision in one part of an organisation affects relationships, behaviours and outcomes elsewhere in ways that are impossible to predict.

The work begins by seeing the current situation more clearly:

  • What is actually happening?
  • What are people experiencing?
  • Where is intent being lost between strategy and action?
  • Which relationships, structures or incentives are working against the outcome?
  • What is being avoided, assumed or left unsaid?

Clarity creates choice.

How I Work

My approach is calm, direct and grounded in reality.

I listen carefully, ask questions and challenge assumptions. I do not arrive with a prescribed answer, formula or model, or pretend to understand an organisation better than the people living and working within it.

You know your role, your organisation and your context.

My contribution is to help you see them differently: to notice patterns, test assumptions, surface difficult truths, run experiments and find what may not yet be visible or obvious.

Sometimes that work is personal: strengthening judgement, confidence and self-awareness through executive coaching.

Sometimes it is organisational: creating alignment, clarifying outcomes, improving relationships or helping teams turn intent into practical action.

Often, it is both.

From here, leaders can align around a direction, make more deliberate decisions and create the conditions in which people can contribute, collaborate and achieve outcomes that matter.

A Human and Practical Approach

Leadership is personal, but it never happens in isolation.

How a leader sees other people affects how they listen, decide, communicate and respond under pressure. Those behaviours shape relationships, and those relationships shape the wider organisation.

My work is informed by years of consulting in organisational alignment, professional coaching, mindset facilitation, training and practice, and by a belief that true responsibility is not given — it is accepted.

People are more able to confront difficult realities when they feel respected, trusted and accountable for their role.

I offer a space where leaders can think honestly, challenge established patterns and strengthen their own judgement.

The goal is not perfection. It is greater awareness, stronger relationships, clearer choices and leadership that has a positive impact on others.

Start with a conversation

The challenges leaders face rarely fit neatly into a predefined category.

You may be considering executive coaching, developing the capability of a leadership team, working through organisational change and friction, or trying to create an outcome that has so far proved difficult to sustain.

We can begin by understanding the situation.
